Security
1. Identity verification tiers
Kavopay uses a risk-based identity verification system. Your wallet starts at a basic tier with modest transaction and balance limits, and unlocks higher limits as you verify more of your identity — starting with your NIN, then your BVN, then further documentation for full verification. This protects both you and the platform by matching what an account can do to how well its owner's identity is confirmed.
Identity verification includes matching a live selfie against your government-issued ID photograph, so an account can't be verified using someone else's identity documents.
2. Transaction PIN
Money-moving actions — transfers, purchases, and payments — require your transaction PIN, kept separate from your login credentials. Never share your PIN, and Kavopay staff will never ask you for it.
3. Account authentication
Sign-in is protected through phone number verification (OTP), and your session is tied to your verified device. If you notice any activity you don't recognize on your account, contact us immediately using the details below.
4. Monitoring & fraud controls
Transactions are monitored for patterns that don't match your normal activity, and unusual activity may be flagged for review. Where a transfer is reported as sent in error or fraudulently, we investigate and, where warranted, can reverse it — see our AML/CFT Compliance Policy for how this works.
5. Data protection
Personal and identity data you provide is handled in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and our Privacy Policy, and is used only for identity verification, compliance, and risk management purposes.
6. Reporting a security concern
If you believe your account has been compromised, or you've spotted a security issue with Kavopay, contact us right away:
- Email: [email protected]
- Subject line suggestion: “Kavopay Security Concern”
Please do not send your password, OTP, or transaction PIN by email — we will never ask for these.
